학부장인사말

부산대학교 경제학부는 우리나라 경제학 교육과 연구의 한 축을 담당하며, 특히 동남권 지역을 기반으로 학문적·사회적 기여를 꾸준히 이어오고 있습니다. 그동안 이곳을 거쳐간 수많은 인재들은 금융·기업, 정부·공공, 학계·연구소 등 다양한 분야에서 전문성을 발휘하며 우리 사회의 발전에 기여해 왔습니다. 지금 이 순간에도 우리 경제학부에서는 미래를 이끌어갈 젊은 경제학도들이 각자의 문제의식을 품고 학업과 연구에 매진하고 있습니다.

1946년 부산대학교상과대학의 일원으로 출발한 경제학부는 오랜 전통과 축적된 연구 역량을 바탕으로 지속적인 성장을 이루어 왔습니다. 현재 경제학부는 우수한 교수진과 학부 및 대학원 학생들로 구성되어 있으며, 지역과 국가의 경제 문제를 분석하고 해결하는 데 중요한 역할을 수행하고 있습니다. 특히 산업, 도시, 에너지, 환경 등 다양한 분야에서 실증적 연구와 정책 제안을 통해 학문적 깊이와 현실적 기여를 동시에 추구하고 있습니다.

우리 경제학부의 교수진은 국내외 학술지에 활발히 연구 성과를 발표하며 학문적 수준을 높여가고 있으며, 학생들은 이러한 연구 환경 속에서 이론과 실증을 겸비한 경제학적 사고를 함양하고 있습니다. 또한 지역 산업 및 공공기관과의 협력을 통해 현장성과 실용성을 갖춘 교육을 실현하고 있습니다.

경제학부는 이러한 성과에 안주하지 않고, 우수한 신진 연구자를 지속적으로 영입하며 교육 및 연구 환경을 더욱 개선해 나가고 있습니다. 변화하는 경제 환경—디지털 전환, 탄소중립, 인구구조 변화 등에 대응하는 새로운 교육과 연구 방향을 모색하며, 미래 사회를 선도할 인재 양성에 힘쓰고 있습니다.

우리 경제학부의 발전은 학생들의 열정, 교수진의 헌신, 그리고 동문과 지역사회의 지속적인 관심과 지원 속에서 이루어지고 있습니다. 앞으로도 부산대학교 경제학부가 지역과 국가, 나아가 세계에 기여하는 학문 공동체로 성장할 수 있도록 많은 관심과 성원을 부탁드립니다.

The Department of Economics at Pusan National University has played a pivotal role in advancing economic education and research in Korea, particularly serving as a key academic hub in the southeastern region. Over the years, numerous graduates from our department have made significant contributions across various sectors, including finance and business, government and public institutions, as well as academia and research organizations. At this very moment, our students—future economists who will shape society—are diligently pursuing their studies, each driven by their own intellectual aspirations.

Established in 1946 as part of the College of Commerce, the Department of Economics has grown steadily upon a strong foundation of tradition and accumulated academic excellence. Today, the department comprises a distinguished faculty along with undergraduate and graduate students, and continues to play an important role in analyzing and addressing economic issues at both regional and national levels. In particular, we pursue both academic rigor and practical relevance through empirical research and policy-oriented studies in areas such as industry, urban economics, energy, and the environment.

Our faculty members actively contribute to the global academic community through publications in leading domestic and international journals, while our students develop strong analytical capabilities grounded in both theory and empirical methods. Furthermore, through close collaboration with regional industries and public institutions, we strive to provide education that is both practically relevant and socially impactful.

The Department of Economics does not rest on its achievements. We are committed to continuously recruiting outstanding scholars and improving our educational and research environment. In response to the rapidly changing economic landscape—such as digital transformation, carbon neutrality, and demographic shifts—we are actively exploring new directions in both teaching and research, with the goal of cultivating the next generation of leaders.
